A cordial visit to UĦM took place on the 14th May 2013 from a Parliamentary delegation led by Mr Speaker Dr Angelo Farrugia. He was accompanied by the Hon. Mr David Agius and Hon. Dr. Micheal Falzon representing opposition and government respectively.
Mr. Speaker Dr. Farrugia stated that he will work to bring Parliament closer to the public. As a matter of fact, he said that he would be
meeting social partners to make parliament more open to social dialogue.
Dr Farrugia praised UĦM’s research and initiative about Jobs+. He mentioned the role of the parliamentary committee for Economic Affairs, whereby he invited UĦM to come forward and share its ideas with the members.
In his address, Mr. Josef Vella, UHM General Secretary thanked Dr. Farrugia and his delegation for the visit. He welcomed Dr. Farrugia’s invitation in relation to Jobs+ with pleasure and assured him that the union will participate in the relevant fora. He added that social partners have a lot to offer towards the common good.
